CARBONDALE, IL – November 30, 2025 – A local non-profit organization is ensuring their brothers and sisters in arms do not have to fight a new battle against food insecurity. Volunteers with the Carbondale-based “Warriors Welfare Foundation” hand-delivered hundreds of pounds of groceries to veterans and military families this past month, emphasizing that the mission is about both nourishment and community support.The initiative, part of their ongoing “Operation Drop Zone,” aims to bridge the gap for veterans facing economic hardship, mobility challenges, or social isolation. The organization noted an increased need for support among the aging veteran population and those on fixed incomes.
